The Cartier Equine Center, Academy of Equine Assisted Learning, is a Private Vocational School through Saskatchewan Advanced Education and Certified through
the Saskatchewan Horse Federation, Equine Canada’s Provincial governing body of the horse industry.  This unique and innovative BuildingBlock™ Equine-Assisted Learning Program© has been designed with the express intent of providing a standardized educational format for individuals interested in expanding their knowledge in the industry, as well as increase their business' marketability and income potential.

Certification Process:
  • Successfully complete the Certified Equine-Assisted Learning Program, provided only by the Cartier Equine Learning Center  (includes Levels I, Level II & Level III courses)
  • Maintain a current Saskatchewan Horse Federation/Equine Canada membership

  • Successfully complete Equine Theory Course
    (scheduled for Thursday and Friday of the second week)
  • Successfully complete First Aid Course with CPR by a certified course conductor (scheduled for Thursday and Friday of the first week)
  • Sign, return and adhere to Equine Canada's Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct

Certification Retention/Certification Upgrades: EAL certification maintenance and applied upgrade requirements; 20 hrs of EAL continuing education credits required every three years from a pre-approved EAL training program.

Equine Specific Theory/Ethics Course: The new NCCP Equine Canada Equestrian Specific 2-day course has replaced the former Equine Canada's Learn to Teach Course and NCCP's Introduction to Competition part "A" as of January 1, 2008.

The Cartier Equine Learning Center teaches this course five times a year, and is open to the public. (download application)

1st Aid Course with CPR: Course provided by React & Respond First Aid, Instructor, Jan Cej (982-4301 or 961-5514), Instructor, Nicole Lychak (922-1241 or 960-9656) (download application)

  • Standard first aid/cpr "c"/ a.e.d. full 2 day class.
    Must attend both days from 8:30 am to 6 pm (approx. time)
  • Re-certification - standard first aid/cpr "c"/ a.e.d.
    Must attend the 1st day of course from 8:30 am to 6 pm (approx. time) (Please bring your last sfa/cpr card for proof of expiry date. You must still be current to attend a re-certify)
